Had to pick between a coworking membership and a home office upgrade last month

I went with the home office route after adding up gas costs to drive across ABQ every day, and it's paying off since I'm not losing an hour to traffic each way. Has anyone else had a coworking spot actually boost their income enough to justify the cost?

Seems like a lot of folks are treating coworking like some kind of secret weapon for business growth. A break room chat is not a client pipeline. You're paying for the privilege of maybe bumping into someone who might maybe need your services someday? That's a pretty expensive gamble. Home office with that $300 in your pocket sounds a lot more reliable. Unless you're in sales cold calling all day, I don't see how a coworking space pays for itself. Just seems like another bill to stress about.

Honestly, I've seen people make coworking pay off by landing clients they met in the break room, but it depends on your field. For most folks, it's just a cleaner workspace and a change of scenery, not a direct income boost. Tbh, if you're disciplined at home, saving that membership fee and the commute cash is probably the smarter move.

Man, coworking spots are overhyped. I tried one for two months and it was just a distraction with people trying to network while I was trying to focus. Not worth the $300 a month when my spare bedroom works fine. The only way it boosts income is if you literally cannot work from home without going crazy.
