Threw away $150 on a bad website designer last spring
Hired a guy from a Facebook group to build my freelance portfolio site for $150 flat. He sent me a template that looked like it was from 2005 and then ghosted me when I asked for edits. Anyone else get burned by a cheap web person in ABQ?

$150 for a whole website and he sent a 2005 looking template? Man, that's rough. I get trying to save cash but at that price range you're basically gambling on whether the person even knows what a browser is. Hope you didn't pay him before the final file.

Yeah the whole cheap gig thing is a trap I see everywhere now. It's like people think paying a little bit means they can skip doing real work, but then you get a half finished mess. I had a similar thing with a guy who said he'd fix my dryer for $50 and just left a bunch of wires hanging out. It's almost like the lower the price the higher the chance they'll just disappear, you know? Have you had any luck finding someone reliable since then?
