Hot take: The AI demo at the Seattle tech meetup made me quit my old workflow cold turkey.

I was at the monthly meetup in Capitol Hill last Thursday, just expecting the usual talks. Then someone from a small startup did a live demo of their new coding assistant. It wasn't just autocomplete. I watched it take a messy, half-written function I gave it and in about 30 seconds, it refactored the whole thing, added clear comments, and even wrote three test cases. I've been a stubborn coder for years, always insisting on doing everything myself to 'understand it.' That demo broke me. I went home and signed up for the beta right away. Now my whole process is different. I feel like I wasted so much time being proud of the grind. Has anyone else had a moment where a specific AI tool just completely flipped your script on how you work?

That demo changed my whole weekend project too.

Hold up, you're really letting one slick demo make you doubt years of your own experience? What happens when that tool gets it wrong or you hit its limits and you've forgotten how to think through the problem yourself? Relying on a black box to do your core thinking seems like a fast track to becoming a worse coder, not a better one.

Oh wow, someone's scared of the future. Don't worry, I'm sure you can still find a nice abacus to do your math on. My weekend project works now, and I didn't have to spend three days reading old forum posts to fix one bug.
