Appreciation post: My air fryer saved my week when my oven broke down

My oven's heating element gave out on a Monday, and the repair guy couldn't come until Friday. I had to make dinner for my family of four every night with just my air fryer. We did chicken thighs, frozen fries, and even a small frozen pizza, all in batches. It got a bit hectic, but everything turned out crispy and cooked through. Has anyone else had to rely on their air fryer as a main cooking tool for a few days straight?

Okay but that "didn't have to heat up the whole house" thing is only a plus if you live somewhere hot. My place is drafty and the oven warming the kitchen is a bonus feature in the winter. Running just the air fryer meant the room was cold, plus I was stuck in there for an hour doing all those batches. Felt more like a punishment than a clever workaround.

Sounds like you basically ran a tiny, very loud restaurant out of your kitchen. Bet you were doing the air fryer shuffle, constantly swapping baskets like a short order cook. At least you didn't have to heat up the whole house with the oven. Hope you got a medal for service under pressure.

That "medal for service" line is a bit much. Honestly, using the oven would have been way less work. You just set a timer and walk away. The air fryer meant I was a prisoner in my own kitchen, babysitting each tiny batch. The noise and the constant attention made a simple meal feel like a huge chore. The oven's heat would have been a welcome comfort in a cold room, not a problem.
