That video about preheating the air fryer changed my mind

I used to just toss stuff in cold and hit start, never saw the point in waiting. But last week I watched a guy on YouTube test chicken wings side by side, 10 minutes preheated vs not preheated. The preheated batch came out way crispier, like restaurant level crispy instead of just rubbery. So now I actually wait the 3 minutes for it to heat up, and my fries don't come out soggy anymore. Anyone else skip preheating for months like I did?

Told my buddy Mark about this exact thing a few weeks back. He laughed and said he used to do the same thing, just throwing frozen fries in cold, then wondering why they came out like cardboard. He finally tried preheating after a coworker brought in air fryer chicken that was actually crunchy on the outside and juicy inside. Mark said he felt like an idiot for not trying it sooner, because now he even preheats for leftover pizza and it comes out better than the microwave. He told me the extra three minutes feels like nothing compared to the difference in texture. It's funny how such a small step can totally change what you get out of the thing.

Oh man, that is EXACTLY it. I did the same dumb thing with my air fryer for like a YEAR. Finally tried preheating for some chicken wings and it was a total game changer. Felt so stupid for not doing it sooner.

@blake_kelly19 your buddy Mark nailed it about feeling like an idiot. I did the same exact thing for months, threw frozen fries in cold and wondered why they tasted like damp cardboard. The preheated batch is the only way my leftover pizza doesn't turn into a soggy mess now. That extra 3 minutes is nothing compared to actually having food that's crispy instead of rubbery.
