Binge watched a 2003 mecha anime in one weekend and it aged way better than I expected

The animation was clunky and the dub was terrible but the political plot actually made more sense to me now at 32 than it did when I was 15 - has anyone else gone back to an old show and found it hit different as an adult?

Oh yeah totally, rewatching Gundam Wing in my 30s blew my mind too.

I dunno man, I rewatched it last year and felt like half the show was just characters staring dramatically out of windows while slow music plays. Heero actually says "I'll kill you" like 40 times an episode. The politics in it are basically just "war is bad" repeated for 49 episodes with different giant robot fights in between. I mean I get it, it was cool when we were 12 because mechs and explosions. But "blew my mind" seems like a lot for a show where nobody can just say what they mean for more than 3 seconds without some weird philosophical pause.

Haha yeah, my 30 year old brain was just sitting there like "wait, did I really think this was deep or did I just like the cool robot wings?
