Remember when fansubs came on like 5 discs?

I was cleaning out my closet last week and found a stack of old VCDs from back in 2003. Tried to play one in my laptop and the drive just made this sad grinding noise. Anyone else miss the whole ritual of swapping discs for a single episode?

Man people really romanticize the whole disc swapping thing way too much. It wasn't some sacred ritual it was just annoying having to get up every 20 minutes to change discs because your DVD player would freeze up if you sneezed too loud. Plus half those fansubs had that one episode where the subtitles were so badly timed you'd be reading the next scene while the current one was still talking. Not exactly a golden age.

lol @gray314 i bet your box is cursed AF. but nah i feel you wesley, the sub timing was awful sometimes. still, there was something special about getting a new disc and popping it in the tray like it was a treasure haha.
