Was building a new site in Boise last month, noticed a lot of people skip checking the outlet box for loose wires before hooking up a range.
I was doing a standard install on a new electric range in Boise last month and found the outlet box had a loose neutral. The last guy just pushed the wire in and didn't tighten the screw. Took me 5 minutes to fix but if I had just plugged it in it could have started a fire. Why are so many techs skipping this step? Has anyone else found loose connections in new builds?

My sister had a similar thing happen with a dryer hookup in her new place last year. The wire nut was barely twisted on and I swear it was just sitting there waiting to spark. I remember my dad used to tell me how most house fires start from loose connections like that. It makes you wonder if electricians are just rushing through new builds or if they assume the next guy will catch it. The problem is nobody wants to be the one slowing down the job by double checking everything.

Ngl @luna261, sounds like your sister's dryer was auditioning for a firework show.

Man I'd probably trip over my own toolbox trying to double check a loose wire.
