Just catalogued my 500th pottery shard from the dig site near Corinth and realized we're only scratching the surface.

The sheer volume of material culture we're unearthing means this site's story is way bigger than the initial survey suggested, so has anyone else had a find count that totally shifted the project's scope?

Wow, 500 shards is a huge haul! So when you say the story is bigger now, what's the main thing you think changed? Like, are you looking at a much longer time period than you first thought, or is it pointing to a whole different kind of settlement being there?

Heard a podcast about a dig in Turkey where the pottery count made them switch from looking for a small fort to a full trade hub. Did the type of shards change or is it just the crazy number?

Man, tell me about it! We started thinking this was just a roadside stop, but the shard count blew up. We're finding way more imported fine ware than local coarse stuff, which is a total game changer. It's like everyone was drinking from fancy cups instead of basic bowls. That shift alone, plus the sheer number, makes me wonder if we're actually sitting on a major market area, not just some houses. Kinda like what mason_murray8 mentioned with that Turkey dig. My joke is that my thesis just grew from a pamphlet to a phone book overnight.
