Hit 500 stacked frames on my Jupiter shot and the difference is insane
I was processing a shot from my 8 inch scope in my backyard in Phoenix, just stacking the usual 100 or so frames. Then I saw a forum post saying to push it way higher. So I went back to my raw files, stacked 500 frames, and the noise just melted away. The Great Red Spot went from a fuzzy blob to having actual texture and swirls. Has anyone else tried pushing their frame count this high on a planet shot?

But is it really worth the extra hours of processing time for a slight bump in detail? I mean, 500 frames is a huge time sink just to clean up some noise. Do you even notice the difference unless you're pixel-peeping on a giant screen?

Remember my buddy who stacked like 400 shots of the Milky Way? He printed it big for his wall and you can totally see the difference, all the faint dust lanes. But yeah, he said his computer hated him for a week.

You said the noise just melted away. Was that the biggest change, or did you see new details pop up too?
