Just found out my ISP has been throttling my VPN traffic for the last 4 months

4 months is brutal, man. I had my ISP do the same thing for about 2 months last year before I noticed my speeds were crap during peak hours. Switching to a provider that doesn't play those games made a huge difference for me.

Real talk though, maybe your old ISP had a legit reason. My buddy works for one of the big ones and says during peak hours they gotta throttle to keep the whole network from crashing for everyone. If too many people are streaming 4K at 6pm, something's gotta give. Plus, those "unlimited" plans often have fine print about deprioritization after a certain data cap. Could be they were just managing congestion instead of being shady. Switching providers works if you got fiber options, but for a lot of people there's only one decent game in town and they gotta deal with slow nights.

Yeah, "peak hours" is what got me too. Funny enough, I spent a whole summer trying to fix my slow streaming and it turned out my neighbor was running some kind of crypto mining rig off the same street power during my late night shows.
