My shop in Tulsa switched from solvent to waterborne basecoat about 8 months ago.

The color match on silver metallics is way better now, but our dry times are longer. Anyone else dealing with that adjustment?

Yeah, the better color match is great, but those longer dry times. We had to totally rethink how we schedule jobs in the booth, it was a bigger headache than we expected at first.

Honestly, the humidity control is the real game changer that nobody talks about. Like @david_palmer said, scheduling is one thing, but if your shop air is too damp, you're just fighting the paint all day. Getting a good dehumidifier for the booth cut our dry time way more than just cranking the heat.

Totally saw a video where a shop in Florida had the same issue. They were blaming the paint brand for orange peel until they checked the humidity. Once they got that under control, it was like night and day. The clear just laid down smooth every time. Makes you wonder how many shops are fighting their equipment instead of the air.
