Just realized my buddy was right about the PCT resupply mistake

I was talking to my friend Mark last week after we both finished the John Muir Trail. He said I was dumb for mailing myself 3 big resupply boxes instead of just buying food in towns along the way. I argued back saying it saved me time but honestly he was right. I ended up hating half the dehydrated meals I packed and had way too much weight for the first 100 miles. Has anyone else switched to buying as you go and regretted it or loved it?

And you end up eating like a king in random gas stations.

Did you have any specific meals in mind when you packed those boxes? I switched to buying food on the fly for my Pacific Crest section last year. Way less waste and I actually ate healthier with fresh stuff from small stores.

Wait, you just grabbed food at random stores along the PCT? Didn't you get stuck with a lot of weird gas station snacks? I feel like planning some meals ahead is the only way I'd survive.
