Why does nobody talk about the flour wars with siblings during holiday baking?

My brother and I always fight over who gets to mix the dough for pies. It ends with flour everywhere and half the batch ruined. How do you handle baking with competitive family members?

Honestly ninar68 has the right idea about the mess, but letting half the batch get ruined sounds stressful. We started pre-measuring everything into little bowls before anyone touches a spoon. That way the fighting is just about who pours it in, not the amounts, and nothing gets wasted.

Ugh, I used to see that as a total disaster. Now I figure the mess is just part of the memory (and we buy extra flour). The ruined cookies are the price of a weirdly fun tradition.

Last Christmas my kitchen looked like a flour bomb went off. Those sticky handprints on everything were kinda worth it though.

The ruined cookies part is what still gets me though.
