My foreman in Toledo said a 4-foot level is a crutch for bad line work

I argued for a week, but after laying a 50-foot run of soldier course without one, I finally get it. Anyone else forced to ditch a tool that made them better?

Had the same thing happen with a laser level. Felt like cheating until I learned to trust my eyes.

Tell me about it, @angelamurphy. My eyes kept arguing with that stupid red line. Guess the eyes won this round.

My tape measure lied to me last week and my gut was right.

Trusting your eyes over a laser is how mistakes happen. Those tools exist for a reason, to remove human error. My gut has been wrong plenty of times.
