Vent: Customer handed me a Pinterest sketch and said "make it match"

I was two hours into routing the door panels for a kitchen job in Evanston last Wednesday when the homeowner walked in with a blurry photo from their phone. The grain on the walnut I had already cut didn't match the weird angle in the picture at all. How do you guys handle people who don't understand wood moves different than pixels?

People get way too worked up over pictures on a phone screen. It's a sketch from Pinterest, not a blueprint from an architect. How much time did you really waste before you just talked to them and told them wood doesn't bend like that? A two minute conversation would have solved this before you ever touched a router. Sometimes we make things harder on ourselves than they need to be.

Wade nailed it honestly. @emma_jones probably gets it too, Pinterest sketches always leave out important stuff like grain direction or wood movement.
