Warning: A tiny screw left loose ruined a focus calibration
I finished a lens service and missed tightening one small screw on the aperture ring. Now the whole focus is off and the customer brought it back. What's your method for double-checking all fasteners before closing up a repair?

Honestly, I'm stunned that a single screw can throw off the whole calibration. It's wild how something so small can completely wreck the functionality. Makes those check systems sound like a lifesaver.

Have you read about using a photo guide for reassembly? I saw a tip where someone snaps a picture of the lens interior before disassembly, then checks the image against the finished work. It adds a visual check to catch any loose parts.

Ever try the color dot system with a marker? I got in the habit of putting a tiny green dot on each screw head as I tighten it down. That way when I'm doing a final look before closing the case, I'm just scanning for any metal-colored screws without a dot. Saved me a couple times on old manual lens gears where you have like twenty identical black screws.
