Spent 2 hours trying to light a camp stove before I found the gas valve was off.

I was so frustrated, thinking the igniter was busted or the propane was empty, until my buddy just reached over and flipped the valve. Has anyone else done something that simple that wasted a ton of time?

Oh man, that's a classic. I once spent a solid 45 minutes cursing at a coffee maker that wouldn't drip, only to realize I never plugged it in. Felt like a real genius after that one.

It's like we all forget the first 10% of any task is just plugging it in, @andrew_baker9.

Well now, I'm not sure if it's quite that deep. Honestly, the first 10% of most tasks is just showing up with the right tool or power source. I've done the same thing with a printer that wouldn't turn on. Felt pretty silly after I checked the cord. But I think we make too big a deal out of these little slip-ups. They happen, you learn, and you move on. It's not like forgetting to plug something in says anything about your overall intelligence.
