I finally bombed a job interview after 3 perfect ones in a row
I had 3 good interviews in a row last month for a project manager spot in Austin. The fourth one last Tuesday went sideways when I mentioned I used a spreadsheet to track tasks, and the hiring manager said they use Asana and seemed put off. I tried to recover by talking about adaptability, but it felt like I lost them after that. Has anyone else had a run of good interviews and then totally messed one up for a simple reason?

Man, I get that. It's like they latch onto one little thing and everything before that just disappears. Using a spreadsheet isn't a crime, it's just a different way to work. Some interviewers are just looking for a reason to say no. Don't let it get to you too much, Austin's got plenty of project management jobs and you already got three good interviews in a row. That says way more about you than one bad one.

Oh man, that's rough. I feel you completely. I had a perfect run of like four interviews for a coordinator role last year and then totally tripped up over my own dumb comment about using Google Keep for reminders. The hiring manager was all about Trello and gave me this weird look. I tried to play it off too, but the energy in the room just shifted and I knew it was over. Your spreadsheet thing isn't even a bad way to work honestly, some teams just get weirdly stuck on their own tools.
