My client in Boise said their last installer never used a power stretcher, just a knee kicker for the whole house.
That comment made me realize how many homeowners have no idea what proper installation even looks like, so now I show them the tools before I start, do you guys do anything similar?
Man, that's brutal. I showed a client my power stretcher once and they asked if it was for pulling tree stumps. Now I just point at the knee kicker and say "that's the wrong tool for the big rooms" and leave it at that. Saves us both the confusion.
People really have no clue about carpet tools, do they? Your client probably thinks the seam roller is for making pie crust. At least @zarat37's neighbor got a free inspection out of the deal. Maybe we should just let folks live with their lumpy floors if they're gonna compare professional gear to farm equipment.
Did you show them the power stretcher and watch their brain short-circuit? I had a guy in Nampa ask if my power stretcher was some kind of medieval torture device.
