Finally got a 60-day payer down to 15 days with a simple email template
I stopped by a FedEx Office in Denver last week and overheard a small business owner talking about a late payment script that shortened her average wait by two weeks, so I tweaked mine to match and my slowest client just paid on day 12 for the first time in 18 months.

So basically the magic is in the bait, not the box.

yeah but I gotta call something out here that's bugging me. That's not really a "simple email template" that did the heavy lifting, it's the specific trigger she found that made people actually open and act on it. Like if it really was just a template, everyone would be copy-pasting it and getting the same results, but they're not. The real trick is figuring out what pain point or incentive makes your particular client base respond, and that's different for every business. A template is just the container, the message inside is what actually matters.

Oh man, @kellyallen you totally nailed it. I had a buddy who runs a landscaping company and he tried every "late payment email template" he could find online. Nothing worked until he figured out his clients were just ignoring generic stuff because they thought it was spam, so he added a one-liner about "hey I noticed your sprinkler system is due for a winter tune-up" and suddenly payments dropped from 45 days to under 20. It's weird how personalizing the hook changes everything.
