Read a study that said 60% of freelancers have a client over 90 days late
I found this on a small business blog last week. It was a survey from a group that helps freelancers. That number is just crazy to me. It means more than half of us are waiting on money from three months ago. I always thought my two or three slow payers were just bad luck. Now I see it's a huge problem for everyone. How do you handle a client who hits that 90 day mark without paying?

Stop all work and send a formal demand letter.

Ugh, that stat hits way too close to home. Honestly, my own late-payment file is so big I use it as a paperweight. I just stop all work and switch to sending weekly, very polite but firm, reminder emails.

Actually, that stat is for invoices over 30 days late, not 90. Still a massive problem though!
