That 'net 60' client just ghosted me on $950 worth of web work
I did some site updates for a small real estate agency back in March and they were supposed to pay after 60 days. Now it's been 4 months, they won't answer emails, and I'm out almost a grand. Has anyone actually had luck with small claims court for stuff like this?

Don't bother with small claims court, it's a waste of time and money for a grand. Even if you win, collecting is another whole headache and the legal fees and court costs will eat up half that amount anyway. Better to just write it off as a lesson learned and move on to paying clients instead.

My friend had a similar thing happen with a landscaping job he did. He took the guy to small claims over about $800 and won, but then spent six months trying to actually get the money. Had to file more paperwork and go back to the courthouse a few times just to start garnishing wages. By the time he finally got paid, he figured out he'd spent almost $200 in time and gas running around. Not really worth it for a grand unless you're doing it on principle.

You ever take them to small claims court? I had a client pull the same thing on me for some web work and actually won the case, got paid a few months later.
