TIL my payment terms were the problem...

I used to just say 'net 30' on every invoice, but a guy at a networking event in Omaha said his rule is 'net 15, 2% discount for 7 days'. I tried it on a $2,500 project and got paid in a week. Anyone else use short terms with a carrot?

Wish I'd learned that trick years ago.

I know that feeling of wishing you'd learned something sooner. The good news is you can start using it now and save yourself time going forward. What kind of stuff are you using it for?

That "wish I'd learned that sooner" feeling... it's everywhere once you start looking. It's like @zarat37 said, you just have to start using the better way now. I see it with simple stuff, like finally putting a bowl under the fruit to keep the counter clean. We get stuck in our ways even when the fix is easy. Your payment term trick is the same kind of thing, a small change for a big result. It's smart to make paying you fast the easier choice for them.
