Rigged up a tarp system last week after getting soaked on a job

I was sweeping a flue in some old house out in the suburbs and the rain came out of nowhere halfway through. The roof was super steep and slippery, so I couldn't just stand there waiting it out. I grabbed a tarp and some bungee cords from my truck and rigged a little shelter over the chimney top. It held up just long enough to finish the brush work and get the ladder down. Any of you guys carry a quick rain setup or just tough it out?

Did your buddy have to duct tape his tarp edges, too?

Duct tape and tarps go together like peanut butter and jelly out here. Had a buddy try using zip ties once. The wind laughed at him. Gave the whole thing a nice flapping sound though. Almost like a sail. On a house roof. Real smart. I would have called him an idiot but I was too busy trying not to slide off. Bungee cords are the way to go. They just snap back in your face when you misjudge the stretch. Keeps you humble.

Got a roll of Gorilla Tape and a pack of bungee cords in my truck at all times now. @the_drew is right, zip ties are asking for trouble, but I've noticed most people just grab whatever's closest instead of thinking about what actually works with their setup.
