Rant: The client meeting at a Starbucks that changed how I handle scope creep

After a 3-hour impromptu meeting at a Starbucks on Elm Street where the client added 7 new requests for free, I now charge for every change past the second revision and it's cut my stress by half for real, has anyone else had to draw a hard line mid-project?

That Starbucks meeting sounds like a nightmare (and probably overpriced coffee to boot). I've been there too, and what finally worked for me was switching to a "change order" system after the first two free revisions. Now every extra request gets a price and a timeline attached before I touch it, no exceptions. Clients usually back off once they see it costs money, and the ones who don't still pay for the privilege of wasting my time.

Exactly, once they realize their wallet is involved the requests magically shrink.

lol I learned that lesson after a client asked for "just one more tweak" 27 times.
