I used to think my old gas mower was fine, but last week changed my mind
Last week, I was mowing my lawn in Austin and my neighbor, Mr. Chen, came over. He pointed at my mower and said, 'You know, that thing puts out as much pollution in an hour as 11 cars.' I looked it up that night and he was right. So I spent $300 on a simple push reel mower. It's quieter, I get some exercise, and I'm not burning gas just to cut grass. Has anyone else made a switch like that and found it wasn't as hard as they thought?

I saw a study from California that said running a gas lawn mower for one hour creates the same smog as driving a car 300 miles. That fact stuck with me. I switched to an electric mower a few years back and the difference is huge. The noise alone was worth it, not having that engine roar in my ears every weekend. It starts with a button, no more pulling a cord until my arm hurts. The air just smells like cut grass now, not exhaust.

That stat about the gas mower is honestly shocking. Making the switch sounds like it changed the whole feel of mowing the lawn. The quiet and the smell of just grass must be so much nicer.

My buddy finally got an electric mower after seeing @the_olivia talk about the noise difference. He said the first time he used it, his neighbor came over because he thought something was wrong with his old mower. It was just that quiet, he could hear birds while cutting the grass.
