Had a client's laptop that would randomly shut down after 15 minutes for months

Finally traced it to a tiny crack in the motherboard near the CPU socket that only showed up after the whole thing got warm. Reflowing the solder with a hot air station fixed it for good. Has anyone else had a similar intermittent fault that was a real pain to find?

My own laptop has a similar ghost in the machine, probably my fault for dropping it.

Ever feel like you're hunting a ghost that only shows up for tea? Had a printer that would jam every single Tuesday afternoon. Took weeks to realize the office cleaner's vacuum shook the table just right. Felt like a detective solving the dumbest case ever.

Ever find a problem that only shows up when things get hot? Those are the absolute worst to track down. Good job sticking with it.
