That moment when I realized I was believing a hoax about 9/11 for 15 years

I was watching a documentary at 3 AM last winter and the narrator casually mentioned the collapse sequence matched a controlled demolition video from 1972, and it hit me like a pipe wrench that I'd been cherry-picking my facts based on what felt right instead of what actually held up under basic physics.

Wait, did you actually dig into the physics of why the towers fell or just accept that comparison at face value? The controlled demolition stuff from the 70s was totally different steel and construction methods, plus the towers pancaked from the top down whereas demolition charges cut columns at the bottom. Honestly, it's easy to get caught up in a 3 AM video because they always make the editing look convincing with dramatic music and overlapping clips. Tbh I had to watch actual NIST reports and look at real structural engineering before I realized how much I was just assuming the conspiracy side was right without checking the math.

Man, I went through the exact same rabbit hole with the moon landing stuff back in 2017 like @lee.cora mentioned. What finally snapped me out of it was looking at the actual thermal data from the WTC fires - those office fires burned way hotter than most people realize because of all the jet fuel and building contents. The pancake collapse thing is key too, I sat down with a civil engineer friend and he showed me how once the first floor failed from heat softening the steel, the weight of all those floors above just stacked the collapse on itself. The controlled demolition theory guys always gloss over the fact that you'd need coordinated charges on like 47 columns simultaneously with perfect timing, and there's zero evidence of any detonation sounds in the seismic data. Did you ever look into the actual floor truss design on those buildings?

Used to think the exact opposite but this actually makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, man, that's exactly what I went through too, it's rough.

Honestly, same thing happened to me with the moon landing stuff back in 2017.
