Just found out my credit card's annual fee was way higher than I thought

I never really checked the fine print and just paid the bill for years. Turns out my card's annual fee jumped from $95 to $150 without me noticing, so I basically threw away over $300 extra. Anyone know a good card with no fee that still gives decent rewards?

Feel your pain, that's such a gut punch. I did the same thing with a card a few years back and it stings. Definitely call them and ask if they can refund some of it or waive the fee, sometimes they'll work with you. For no fee cards, I've had good luck with the ones from my regular bank, the cash back adds up.

Ugh, I'm the queen of missing those dates by a day or two. My brain treats calendar alerts like optional suggestions, which is a terrible system. What's the dumbest fee you've ever gotten stuck paying?

A few years back and it still stings? That's a long time to remember a credit card fee.

Oh totally, that "still stings" feeling is so real. I swear I remember every single dumb fee I've ever paid, it's like a special kind of financial regret. You're right on the money, harper_burns59, it does stick with you for years. I had a card that charged me an annual fee right after the zero percent period ended and I missed the date by like a week. Felt so avoidable. Calling them is solid advice, the worst they can say is no.
