Hit 500,000 miles on my work truck last week and I'm still shocked

I rolled over 500,000 miles on my 2002 Ford F-350 with the 7.3 Powerstroke last Tuesday. Got it from a guy in Austin who had already put 300k on it doing hauling gigs. I've been using it for my landscaping company for the last 6 years pulling dump trailers and skid steers. The thing still starts up every morning without any glow plug drama and I've only had to do basic maintenance like injectors and a water pump. The big surprise was that the original transmission finally gave out at 482k, which I thought was pretty good for a stock unit. What kind of high mileage numbers have you guys seen on your shop trucks or personal rigs?

Wait that's actually wild for the original trans to last that long on a 7.3 pulling heavy loads? I've heard those ZF6s are tough but 482k is insane. Makes me feel better about my old diesel's stock trans sitting at 320k

Hold up, you sure those injectors were just basic maintenance? On a 7.3, injectors are kind of a big deal. But hey, 500k is still crazy impressive for any truck.

Agree with you on the injectors man. On a 7.3 those aren't just a quick swap like spark plugs, that's a whole weekend job if you're doing it right. But I guess when you're at 500k miles you've probably done enough other stuff that the injectors just blend into the normal list of things that wear out. Still wild to think about a truck going that far without a rebuild though. Makes you wonder what the rest of the drivetrain looks like at that point lol.
