Had a door leveler on a unit in Denver that kept drifting...
Been setting them with the bubble pack for 12 years. Thought I had it dialed. Then the customer complained about binding on the 3rd floor. Foreman came up, put his $40 digital level on it, and it was off by almost a 32nd. He showed me how the bubble level gets loose after a few drops off the truck. Now I check all my setups with a digital every time before I button up the cab. Anybody else run into this with the old bubble style?

You seriously think a 32nd of an inch is gonna cause binding? I've been doing this 15 years and I bet half the cabs I've ever worked on were off by at least that much. Nobody ever complained. Those digital levels have their own problems, like the battery dying at the worst time or the calibration getting thrown off if you drop it. The old bubble packs are simple and they work fine if you treat them right. You gotta ask yourself if the foreman was just trying to sell you on a new tool or if there was really a problem.

Isn't a 32nd like 0.8mm? That can definitely cause binding.

Bubble packs never run out of batteries though.
