Vent: Tried using a jade roller on really inflamed skin last week - bad idea
I had a client come in with some serious post-procedure redness and I thought a chilled jade roller would calm it down. But the friction actually made things worse, she was even more red after 2 minutes. I learned that on super irritated skin, even gentle tools can be too much. Has anyone else had a tool or trick backfire on overly sensitive skin?

Ugh, I learned this the hard way with an ice cube once. Thought I was being smart calming a breakout with some cold water, but the direct ice just burned and made my skin scream. So yeah, totally feel you on the jade roller fail. Even the vibration from a facial massager can be too much when your skin barrier is wrecked. What do you do for cooling now on really angry skin?

Damp washcloth from the fridge, held on there for like 30 seconds. Cools it down without the burn.

laughing because I literally did the exact same thing last month with my own face after a chemical peel. Thought I was being fancy with my iced jade roller and ended up looking like a tomato for two hours. @samreed is totally right though, the damp washcloth trick is way gentler. The cold seeps in without the dragging friction that makes already angry skin worse. I switched to just pressing a cold spoon (like the back of a metal teaspoon) on the red spots when my skin is super reactive. It's dumb but it works because there's no movement, just steady cool pressure.
