GPS for a picket fence? What happened to string and stakes.
A project last week had the client insisting on satellite alignment for a simple garden border. We used to just stretch a line between two trees. My tool bag feels lighter, but my phone battery dies faster now.

Sometimes we add ten extra steps just to feel fancy. The old ways worked because they were simple. Now everything needs an app and a subscription.

Right, the "ten extra steps to feel fancy" thing is so real. We act like every backyard project needs military grade tools. I saw flores.mark's comment and it's true, we overthink it. My neighbor used a drone to check his roof gutters last month. A ladder and his eyes would have worked fine. It's a picket fence, not a runway.

My uncle once rented a surveying laser to level his backyard shed. He spent all afternoon on it when a bubble level would have done the trick. We chase fancy tools for simple jobs and call it progress.
