My realtor in Tampa said we should offer 20k over asking, but my gut says that's crazy
Last week, we found a house we loved listed at $325k. Our realtor, Sarah, pulled comps and said the market is so hot we need to bid $345k to even be considered. I get that it's competitive, but offering that much extra feels like we're just throwing money away. Has anyone else been told to go that high over asking and actually felt good about it later?

My buddy in Phoenix got the same advice last year and ignored it. He lost three houses before he finally caved and offered 25k over on a place. He hated doing it, but he's been in the house six months now and says with the way prices keep going up, it was actually the right move.

Feel like I'm watching a horror movie where the monster is just the housing market. My own stubbornness cost me two places last spring before I did the same dumb overbid. Hated myself for it until the place next door sold for way more last month. Now I'm just sitting here feeling like a genius who got lucky.

Phoenix sounds brutal. I mean, at least @henry_anderson54 only lost two places before giving in. Feels like we're all just paying a stubbornness tax these days.
