I finally switched to a 4-inch roller for glue-down vinyl after a job in Tacoma where the seams kept lifting.

Made the same switch last year. Those small rollers put down way more pressure. Seams are bulletproof now.

Oh man, my buddy swapped his out and had the same thing. He was fighting a leak on his old tarp for months. The new one with the small rollers just crushed it flat, no issues all season.

Saw a whole article about those small roller systems... they're supposed to spread the pressure out more evenly so you don't get those weak spots. Makes total sense why finley_smith's buddy stopped having leaks. The old wide rollers just can't put down the same force in the middle of the tarp. It's one of those upgrades that seems small but makes a huge difference.
