My nail gun jammed on a big glue-down job yesterday

It was a 1,200 square foot vinyl plank install and the piston got stuck halfway through. I had to take it apart in the client's garage, clean out the old grease, and put it back together with fresh oil. Anyone have a better trick for clearing those jams fast?

Taking it apart on site is asking for more trouble though...

Man, that sounds like a rough spot to be in. My old compressor used to do something similar, just lock up when you needed it most. Never had the guts to take it apart on site though, good on you for that.

Yeah, that penetrating oil trick @matthew_patel68 mentioned is solid. Had a Quincy do the same thing last year, and a good soak with Kroil on what felt like a stuck valve plate got it turning over again. Sometimes you just gotta try the simple fix first before calling it.

Had a 20-year-old Ingersoll Rand do that once. Found a seized bearing after pulling the head, which is what @craig.piper probably worries about with on-site teardowns. Got it moving with some penetrating oil and a soft hammer.
