Was skeptical about those click-lock LVP floors for years
I fought against using click-lock luxury vinyl plank for a long time, thought it was all cheap and flimsy. Then I did a 1,200 square foot basement job near Columbus Ohio with a decent brand and I'll be darned if it wasn't actually solid and easy to install. Has anyone else come around on something they used to hate in the trade?

Buddy of mine swore by glue-down carpet for years, then did his whole basement with click-lock and changed his tune fast.

Hang on, by "changed his tune fast" do you mean he actually ended up liking the click-lock more than the glue-down? Or did he have to tear it up like that Ohio guy and go back to what he knew? I'm just trying to figure out if there's a real success story in there or if it's another cautionary tale.

I did a 1200 square foot basement job outside of Columbus Ohio five years ago with a premium click-lock brand. Three years later I got a call because two whole rows near the sliding door had come apart. The locking mechanism just gave up. I had to go back and rip out half the floor and redo it with glue-down. The problem is that basements in Ohio have moisture and temperature swings all year round. Click-lock expands and contracts in ways that glue-down just doesnt. The locking tabs get brittle over time and you end up with gaps you can't fix without pulling the whole thing up. I still think glue-down is the way to go for any basement slab.
