Chat with a plumber friend made me rethink my pricing model
He told me he charges $150 just to show up, no questions asked. I've been out here doing 30 minute phone calls for free trying to win bids. Has anyone else had that moment where another trade made you realize you're undervaluing your time?

My buddy who does HVAC told me he charges a $95 trip fee before he even looks at anything. I used to spend two hours drafting custom estimates for people who never even responded back. That conversation with him felt like someone turned on a light in a dark room. Now I charge a flat $50 just to scope the job and apply it to the final bill if they hire me. It cut out half the time wasters overnight.
