This guy at a meetup told me my SEO strategy was 'cute'

Honestly, it was at that local digital marketing meetup in Phoenix about two months ago. I was explaining how I got a small e-commerce site from page 4 to page 1 for a decent keyword in under 90 days. This dude just smirked and said, 'That's cute, but real SEO is about enterprise-level backlink profiles.' He didn't even ask about my process or the tools I used. It just felt so dismissive of the actual freelance grind. Has anyone else had someone talk down to them for working with smaller businesses?

Ugh, that "cute" comment is such a weird flex. It totally misses the point that small business SEO is often HARDER. You don't have a brand name or a big budget to hide behind. Getting results with limited resources shows real skill. That guy's "enterprise" work probably just means spending a ton of someone else's money. Your win is way more impressive.

real skill" seems like a stretch for just doing your job.

That "real skill" comment nails a bigger life pattern.
