Overheard a guy in a coffee shop say his standing desk cured his back pain in 2 weeks
I was grabbing a latte last Tuesday and this guy next to me was on the phone talking about how he bought a $60 standing desk converter off Amazon and his lower back pain went away after just 14 days. That got me thinking about my own setup at home. I've been using the same cheap IKEA desk and office chair for 3 years and my back has been killing me lately. So I ordered a similar converter and rearranged my workspace to alternate sitting and standing every hour. Has anyone else tried this and actually noticed a difference in their productivity or pain?

Oh man, I had almost the exact same thing happen. I was skeptical at first because I've tried those "miracle cure" gadgets before and they never worked. But I grabbed a cheap one off Amazon too about a month ago and honestly my lower back feels way better already. I just switch between sitting and standing every 45 minutes or so and it keeps me from getting that stiff, achy feeling by the end of the day. My focus actually went up too because I'm not constantly shifting around trying to get comfortable anymore.

Haha I mean is it really that serious though? Like you were shifting around uncomfortable before? Just get a better chair, problem solved lol.

Yeah, @kai839, "just get a better chair" is definitely the kind of advice I'd give myself before I dropped $150 on one that still hurts my tailbone after an hour. That "miracle cure" thing you mentioned, abbyf79, is exactly why I bought a cheap seat cushion from the drugstore, and now I'm basically a human pancake with better posture. I'm with you on the focus thing too, I stopped fidgeting long enough to realize I've been procrastinating on purpose. But hey, at least now I'm uncomfortable in a more productive way, right?
