Thought those fancy desk risers were overpriced garbage until my back gave out

I was using stacked books for 8 months thinking I was smarter than the $150 price tag. After a 14 hour day last Tuesday I couldn't straighten up for 20 minutes. Anyone else wreck their posture trying to save a few bucks?

...and it's not just desk risers either. I caught myself doing the exact same thing with a $15 yoga mat versus a $45 one. Spent three months sliding around on that cheap thing thinking I beat the system, then pulled something in my lower back trying to hold a pose. It's like we're programmed to ignore our own comfort until something physically stops working. The books thing is relatable too - I tried that with my laptop once and nearly took out a coffee mug. Sometimes spending a little extra on stuff that literally holds you up is just common sense, not a scam.

Did you really have them stacked high enough to type comfortably? You might have actually been hurting your neck worse looking down at those books the whole time.

Started stacking books under my monitor once, knocked the whole tower over.
