I finally got my quarterly taxes done after a week of spreadsheet hell

I thought I had all my income and expenses tracked, but I forgot about a $250 payment from a client who sent it through a weird app. I spent seven days digging through old emails and bank statements just to find that one missing piece. What's the strangest place you've ever found a forgotten payment hiding?

Last year I found a $300 check from a client tucked inside a thank you card. I had put it in a drawer with other cards and totally forgot. Now I keep a big envelope by my desk for any piece of paper that looks like money. Do you have a system to catch those weird payments?

Ugh, that's the worst. I found a $400 PayPal payment once that went to an old email I never check. Like @abby_murphy, I had to make a real system. Now I have a folder in my email just for payment confirmations, and I check all my apps, even the dumb ones, at the end of the month. It's boring but it saves the spreadsheet panic.
