Showerthought: I moved from Austin to Boise for lower rent, but my tax setup got way more complex. Anyone else deal with this?

Depends on whether that simpler life is real when you're buried in paperwork.

Honestly, that tax headache is just part of the deal. You traded a high cost of living for a simpler life, and that's a win. Isn't the whole point to get out of the rat race?

Agree it's a fair trade, but the paperwork can still feel like its own little race. The goal is less stress, not just swapping one type for another. Getting that balance right is the real win.

Read an article saying the stress from paperwork is a real thing for people who move. It can eat up the time you gained from leaving a busy job. Finding a system to handle it early is key to keeping that simpler life.
