Went to the new tech store in Portland and their demo setup was a mess
I checked out that big new electronics place on 5th Avenue yesterday, and their whole gadget review station was just broken. They had three tablets lined up for comparing screen quality, but two of them were stuck on the same bright white demo loop. The third one had a dead pixel right in the middle. You couldn't actually test anything the way they intended. It made me wonder how many people base their buying choices on faulty store displays. Has anyone else run into a really bad in-store demo that almost put you off a product?

Seriously, a dead pixel right in the middle?

Yeah that scratched up screen protector thing is so real... I've totally walked away from phones that were probably fine because the store model looked awful.

I saw a tech blog last week talking about how store demos are often the worst way to judge a screen. They said the brightness is always cranked to max and the demo software hides flaws. That dead pixel @skyler_johnson32 mentioned is a perfect example. It totally makes sense that a broken setup would make a good product look bad. I almost skipped a great phone once because the store model had a scratched up screen protector. They really should take better care of that stuff.
