That guy at the hardware store who told me I was storing my tool chest wrong
Last Saturday I was at Ace Hardware on Broad Street picking up some casters, and this older gentleman just walks up and tells me my whole setup is trash because I keep my wrenches hanging vertically. He said I should be laying them flat in drawers or they'll stretch out over time. I've been doing it this way for 12 years without any issues. Has anyone else had some random stranger give you unsolicited storage advice?

My buddy Eric had some guy at a car show tell him he was storing his spare tire wrong. Said it was gonna cause dry rot if he kept it upright instead of flat. Eric's been storing tires for like 20 years. He just nodded and walked away.

That guy telling your buddy about the tire is part of a bigger thing I've noticed. People love to step in and "correct" you on something you've been doing for years, just because they heard one tip from a buddy or saw a YouTube video once. It's like everyone thinks their way is the only way and they gotta save you from yourself. Drives me nuts how quick folks are to tell you you're wrong when your system clearly works fine.

Man, tell me about it. @webb.hannah your buddy Eric was way smarter than me, I would've had a hard time keeping my mouth shut. It's funny how people will watch a 5 minute video and suddenly think they know more than a guy who's been doing it for two decades. I bet that tire guy has a whole shelf of "expert" books he's never actually used in real life. What's the wildest "correction" you've seen someone try to pull on a person who clearly knew their stuff?
