I used to skip the coast town until a seal stole my sandwich.
I thought it was just a boring fishing spot, but when a seal hopped on our boat to snatch my lunch, I laughed so hard. Now I get why people love its silly charm.

Seriously? A stolen sandwich made you like the place?

Totally get the "stolen sandwich" doubt, but I read a similar story once. Some guy's pizza got swiped from a delivery spot, and the owner not only remade it but gave him a bunch of free meal cards for the hassle. It's that wild over-correction, like with wadejenkins and the lifetime coffee, that sticks with you. They basically lose money to make a point, and it works because you remember the fix way more than the original screw-up.

A MESSED up order once got me LIFETIME free coffee at this joint.

See your point, @the_ray. In my experience, a burger spot once gave me free meals for a month after a wrong order. That kind of overcorrection really makes you a fan.

Yeah, sometimes a place makes up for a bad moment in a big way, like with wadejenkins and that coffee. It shows they actually care about fixing things, you know? That kind of response can totally change your view of a spot.
