Finally figured out how to get European clients to pay on time
After 3 months of chasing invoices, I started adding a 10 euro late fee in the contract and suddenly they pay within a week. Has anyone else tried small penalties to speed things up?

Gotta agree with @joseph_bailey on this one, but heres something nobody mentioned yet. Small penalties only work if you actually enforce them, otherwise clients treat them like a bluff. I had a German client try to push back on a 15 euro fee once, I just reminded them it was in the contract and they paid same day. The real trick is making sure your late fee isnt too high either too low, 10 bucks is the sweet spot where it stings enough but doesnt feel like a money grab.

Thats a good point but nobody's mentioned how the currency matters too. A 10 euro fee hits different for someone in Poland versus Switzerland, so you gotta adjust based on where they're based.
