The coffee shop wifi lesson that changed my payment terms

Back in 2019 I was at a Starbucks in Portland when my laptop died and I lost a $400 invoice I'd been working on for 3 hours. Turned out the client had been dragging their feet on a net-30 agreement and I had no backup. How do you handle digital records when you're working offsite?

Net-30 means they pay in 30 days, not you.

Oh wow, thanks for clarifying that. So I'm just supposed to wait a month to get paid while I'm supposed to pay my bills yesterday. Makes perfect sense.

Used to think net-30 was fine until losing work taught me to keep everything backed up online.
