Serious question, why does everyone agree to unlimited tweaks?

I just wrapped up a logo project where I said "3 rounds of edits max" in the first email. The client actually stuck to it and we finished in 10 days instead of 2 months like my last project. I used to let people chip away at designs forever thinking it made me look helpful. But all it did was burn my weekend for free. Has anyone else noticed clients respect you more when you just name a number upfront?

Oh man, that pain is real. I learned that lesson the hard way too, working a whole Sunday on "just one more tiny change" that turned into five. Setting a number upfront really does make things cleaner for everyone.

Yeah that sounds about right honestly... but I gotta gently push back on one thing @margaret551. Setting a number upfront helps but it's not the whole fix. You still gotta stick to it like your life depends on it. I've told clients "three changes max" and then watched them try to sneak in a fourth halfway through and suddenly we're both stuck there late. The number only works if you actually mean it and don't cave when they give you those puppy dog eyes. It takes practice to hold the line for sure.

@blake_kelly19 has a point but unlimited tweaks can build trust long term.
